At the 18th European Conference on Earthquake Engineering, ARISE will host an interactive workshop bringing together researchers and practitioners to consider both the evidence and lived experience behind that question.

We will begin with a short discussion on representation, inclusion, psychological safety, and why diverse perspectives matter for innovation and technical excellence in earthquake engineering.
A participatory conversation
In the second half of the session, attendees will work in small groups to identify:
- what helps people feel valued and able to contribute;
- what gets in the way;
- what practical changes could improve the research environment; and
- which actions ARISE should prioritize as the alliance develops.
We want to identify practical actions and use the collective experience in the room to help shape the future direction of ARISE.
The workshop is open to all genders, career stages, and professional backgrounds. Come ready to share your experience, challenge our thinking, and help define what ARISE should do next.
